Fabulous, Flawless, & Fierce: Fated to be the FIRST!

The Senate finally voted and confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as Supreme Court Justice. As everyone already knows, she is the FIRST EVER Black woman, FIRST EVER public defender, and the MOST QUALIFIED candidate ever appointed to the highest court in the land.

After enduring the horrendous display of racism and misogyny (aka misogynoir) by the usual suspects of the GOP during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings and the baseless fear-mongering from the Right wing pundits, Justice KBJ was finally confirmed today with a 53-47 vote.

Thanks to 3 Republican senators, Mitt Romney (UT), Susan Collins (ME), and Lisa Murkowski (AK), who dared to break with their party and do the right thing, we will soon have 4 women serving on the Supreme Court. This Summer she will replace Justice Stephen Breyer.

Today's historic appointment of Ketanji Brown Jackson swings the doors of opportunity wide open in the field of LAW for other ambitious, dedicated, and brilliant women of color to pass through and take up more space. It especially offers Black girls and Black women proof that in spite of all the haters that try to keep them down, they can and do and will RISE here in the US of A!!!

As we learned during the proceedings, Ketanji Brown Jackson, set herself up early on to make her way to the very top! And now here she is - a hero for you and me!
